DS-160 Form and Confirmation Page: Before Your Interview
Review your DS-160 form before a U.S. visa interview in Pakistan, India or Bangladesh. Check the confirmation page, funding, dates and answers an agent entered.
Looking for the DS-160 form or confirmation page? Use the official Consular Electronic Application Center. Visa Prepper is a preparation service, not the application website.
Once you have submitted your form, the next useful step is checking that you understand it. This guide is for applicants in Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh preparing for a U.S. nonimmigrant visa interview.
Form, confirmation page and appointment: three different things
- DS-160 form: your application answers.
- DS-160 confirmation page: the page with the application ID and barcode.
- Appointment confirmation: the separate record of your booking.
The Department of State requires the DS-160 confirmation page at the interview, not a printout of the entire application. Its DS-160 FAQ also explains how to reprint a lost confirmation page.
Keep a copy of your answers for your own review if you saved one. Do not assume the confirmation page contains them all.
Six things to review before you practice
1. Your name and passport details
Compare the details you entered with your passport. Check spelling, dates, and passport numbers carefully. If another document uses a different spelling, investigate the difference rather than guessing which version to repeat.
2. Your reason for travel
Can you describe the same real purpose in simple words? A visit to a relative, a university course, and a work assignment are different plans. Do not use a friend's explanation because it sounds more impressive.
3. Who will pay
Separate your own savings from money supplied by a parent, employer, or other source. Keep PKR, INR, BDT, and USD clearly labelled in your notes. A figure without a currency can be easy to misread.
4. Work and education dates
Check the dates against your records. If you changed jobs, started a course, or had a gap, prepare a truthful explanation of the timeline.
5. Family and U.S. contacts
Review the relationships, names, and contact details you supplied. “Uncle,” “family friend,” and “employer” do not describe the same relationship.
6. Previous travel and visa history
Review what you entered about previous applications and travel. Do not hide a refusal or invent a travel history because someone suggested it would make the application look stronger.
If an agent or relative filled in the form
Ask for the final answers and read them yourself. Mark anything you do not understand, including English words the helper used to describe your work.
The official DS-160 FAQ explains the applicant's electronic signature and responsibility for truthful answers. Help completing a form does not remove that responsibility.
For your own preparation, explain each section aloud without looking. If you cannot describe it naturally, find out whether the wording is unfamiliar or the information is actually wrong.
What if something is wrong or has changed?
Do not change your spoken story to fit an error. Check the official correction instructions for the embassy or consulate handling your case. Ask what to do before changing a submitted application or using a different confirmation number with a booking.
Keep a short note of the accurate information and supporting records. Practice can help you explain a change; it cannot correct an official form or decide the proper legal next step.
Can I complete the form in Urdu, Hindi or Bengali?
The DS-160's official instructions require English answers, except where the form specifically asks for your name in your native alphabet. Practice language and application language are different things. See the official language instructions.
For local preparation, choose your guide: Pakistan, India, or Bangladesh.
Turn the review into interview practice
Choose one topic—funding, your course, or your trip. Explain it aloud, then compare it with the information you reviewed. Resolve anything wrong instead of simply making the wording match.
Use our document checklist to organize the next step. Visa Prepper offers applicants in Pakistan and India one free document consistency check and preparation tips; paid packages include complete AI video interviews and personal feedback. Bangladesh support is coming soon.

Frequently asked questions
Is the DS-160 confirmation page the same as an appointment confirmation?
No. The DS-160 confirmation identifies your submitted application. An appointment confirmation gives the booking details. Keep them separate and follow your official appointment instructions.
Do I need to print my DS-160 confirmation page?
Yes. The Department of State requires the confirmation page for the interview. You do not need to bring the entire application just because you are bringing the confirmation page.
What if an agent entered something wrong?
Do not repeat an incorrect answer to match the form. Check the current correction instructions with the embassy or consulate handling your application before your appointment.
